About the Rainbow Platform
LGBTQI+ representation in European politics is far from the optimal level. According to researchers, around 5 percent of the European population say they are LGBTQI+. Still, just 0.1-0.2 percent of European elected officials are known to be LGBTQI+. For LGBTQI+ people to achieve equal representation, we need far more lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and ally politicians in representative positions.
The Rainbow Platform is founded on the idea of the elevation of LGBTQI+ voices by creating role models who can inspire political engagement and change.
Our vision:
We aim to showcase the commitment of the liberal cause towards more equality and more diversity in representation. We do so by working with liberal political parties on making their structures more diverse and inclusive for political talent to grow and by highlighting the work, achievements, role models, and ambitions of the liberal movement to engage diverse politically engaged people.
