As we approach the end of another remarkable year, the Rainbow Platform is thrilled to reflect on the achievements and milestones that have defined our journey in 2023. Together with our dedicated partners and passionate changemakers, we have made significant strides in advancing diversity, inclusivity, and political representation within liberal political organisations across Europe.
As we proudly present our 4th Newsletter, this marks a great milestone and is a testament to the growing readership of the Network of Action powered by the ALDE party. Each edition has been a platform to share our vision, highlight accomplishments, and connect with our ever-expanding community.
Publications and Visual Impact
We continued to make our mark this year with impactful publications. Remember that last year we launched "The Blue Book of LGBTQI+ Liberal Representation" and this year we published our 2nd book called "The Liberal Book of Diversity." Our eye-catching posters, cleverly crafted by Daniel, have become a staple at our events, leaving attendees with a colourful collection to adorn their spaces. In May, we witnessed the debut of our Magazine, curating insightful analyses, writings, and commentary from prominent liberals across Europe. Focused on the 2024 European Elections, it served as a platform to reflect on the progress made and set ambitious goals for the future.
Diversity Circles of Expertise
Our pioneering project, powered by the European Liberal Forum, continued to strengthen. The Diversity Circles of Expertise aim to change the culture of liberal parties by creating a network of experts dedicated to building more diverse and inclusive environments. It was another successful year of Our Academy with a new intake of changemakers which you can read about here.
Pride Events Across Europe
Our engagement with Pride events in 2023 showcased a commitment to fostering discussions on the significance of diversity in political representation. From Valetta to Vienna, we joined forces with local representatives, activists, and civil society actors to ignite conversations, share stories, and advocate for a more inclusive European political landscape. Talent Diversity Incubators
Powered by The European Dialogue of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, our Talent Diversity Incubators brought together operational staff and candidate recruitment teams from different political parties. Through round table discussions and expert-led sessions, we addressed inclusive recruitment, internal party culture management, and identity politics within liberal organizations.
Liberal Diversity Commissions
In partnership with the ALDE Party and The Alliance of Her, we hosted successful Liberal Diversity Commissions at the fringes of the ALDE Party Congress. These commissions addressed critical issues affecting politically underrepresented minorities, such as hate crimes against the LGBTQI+ community and the role of Europe in fighting anti-LGBTQI+ legislation worldwide.
As we close the chapter on another impactful year, we express our gratitude to all our partners who have played a crucial role in making these achievements possible. The Rainbow Platform is excited to announce the continuation of our programs into 2024, including the Rainbow Platform Academy, and we eagerly anticipate welcoming new changemakers to join us in the journey towards a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable future for Europe.
